The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has implemented a 2% basic salary deduction on teachers. This unprecedented secret move was revealed through a letter dated 14th November 2023, which was signed on behalf of the General Secretary of GNAT, Mr. Thomas Musah by Mr. Isaac Baah, who happens to be the Head of Compensation and Benefits at GNAT.

In view of this, the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) requested the Controller and Accountants General Department to effect a Two Percent (2%) deduction of Basic Salary on each Non-Contributor GNAT member into the GNAT Provident Fund Scheme effective November, 2023.
